Full Immersion Baptism
When Jesus started his ministry, his public ministry, he was thirty years old. The first thing Jesus did was get full immerse baptized as an adult. If He did it, we're going to do it His way. He said, "Now this is My decision. It's My faith." If you haven't been baptized, you need to be baptized the way Jesus was.
People are saved and get to heaven by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior . . . Baptism alone does not save you. However, Salvation and baptism together are outward signs and are symbolic in belief.
The mode of Baptism is immersion; picture the death, and resurrection of Jesus . . . In the same way that He went through these things, our old nature is to die, and we are to be buried with Him through Baptism into death and raised to walk in newness of life. . . therefore live like Jesus . . . . .
So we do not just try to be a better person, we bury the old person in the water and become a new person through our acceptance of Christ. It is a transforming re-birth of forgiveness of sin and the power to live for Him.
Jesus as a baby was dedicated to God. There's a difference between a baptism of confirmation wich was your parents' commitment to dedicate you to God. You had nothing to do with it. You might not even remember it. But there is the baptism of confession or often called "believer's baptism", which is your decision as an adult. We baptize people as adults in this church. Why? Because Jesus set the model.
Dedicating a child acknowledges God's sovereignty not only over the child, but also Mom and Dad. Parents present their child before God and His people asking for grace and wisdom in carrying out their responsibilities. Parents also come praying that their child might one day trust Jesus Christ as Savior for the forgiveness of sin.
Before the actual ceremony, the pastor would meet to counsel parents about the meaning of dedication and go over the details of the special ceremony service.
Congratulations! You're getting married. We feel honored that you have selected Open Range Cowboy Church to be a part of your special day. A Marriage was God's design, and He saw fit that a man and a woman should be united and become "one flesh" (Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:5)-one in body, one in mind, one in purpose and priorities, one in possessions and finances, and one in Spirit.
We will need to meet in advance to discuss things to consider in your relationship prior to marriage and go over the details for the wedding day ceremony. This day should be a personalized expression of you. You may customize parts of the service, write your own vows, and select your music.
Steps to plan your wedding with Open Range Cowboy Church:
You will need to make sure (A) The date our pastor is available to perform your wedding ceremony, and (B) the location of the ceremony. Our pastor is willing to perform a ceremony at any location.
Obtain Your Marriage License - Before the wedding day, you need to secure a marriage license from the county "Vital Records" department in which you live (generally $110). In Minnesota, there is generally a 5 day waiting period after you apply for a license, before it can be picked up or mailed. The license must be used within 6 months of purchase.
Tie the "Nuptual Knot" - The big day has arrived. We want to make this as memorable and stress-free as possible. Depending on the size of the wedding party and the amount of music in the ceremony, the ceremony generally lasts 20-30 minutes. Some people wonder, "How much do you charge to do the wedding?" We do not send out invoices charging fees for the ceremony, but generally an honorarium of $200 is appropriate.
